Located in the northwest of Vietnam, Sapa is the most unique destination for everyone. You can come to relax in luxury resorts or five stars hotels with your family to spend your day off. Otherwise, you can come to Sapa to go trekking with your friends to conquer the Fansipan mount by Sapa group trekking tours or just wander around and around for sightseeing. Sapa is famous for its cool climate whole year, and if you are “lucky” enough you can catch the snow in winter even in this tropical climate country. Besides, Sapa has magnificent terraces, ethnic children, stilt houses, flowers and a lot of specialties. There are many daily Sapa group tours, you can review carefully to have the best choice.
Sapa in my mind is the town in the fog, and I love this town because it is the place where I can spend my holiday relaxing, enjoying the peaceful life with my friend. But today, let me take you to another Sapa through those fantastic pictures.
If being asked, “what do you like most in Sapa”? I can answer immediately “that is lifestyle”. Lifestyle in Sapa means you live with nature, live by nature. I love the morning when I get up, leave my bed in the bungalow, I can breathe the fresh air of the Northern mountains, enjoy the cool climate that I can’t do in Hanoi. I love the breakfast with a hot cup of coffee in this peaceful scene. You can join Sapa small group tours if you want to have the same thought as me.
We got there by Sapa group tour bus, and rented a bungalow in the villages to escape from the noise of the town center with a lot of tourists of many Sapa group tours. We rented a motorbike and conquered the O Quy Ho Pass. This pass located in Hoang Lien Son Mountain, it linked Lao Cai and Lai Chau province. O Quy Ho Pass is one of the four greatest passes in the North of Vietnam together with Khau Pha, Pha Din, and Ma Pi Leng Pass. This Pass is named after the chirp of a bird attached with a sad love story of a young couple. Its length is about 50 kilometers. The road is very craggy with a lot of dangerous turnings which is really a challenge for the adventurous people to conquer.
After a day on the motorbike, we got back to our homestay to rest and have dinner. We chose a local restaurant and ordered a dish of salmon salad and a Thai hotpot for those cold days. Then we came to visit the night market in town. No need any maps to get to the night market because you can smell the grilling flavor from far. The night market is always crowded, local people sell everything there like clothes, cuisines, souvenirs and so on. The meaning of the night market in the past was not only for trading goods, but it was also a place for a
single boy and girl to meet and have the first date together. Although the weather of Sapa in the evening is very cold, you can feel the warmth inside the night market. Finally, be careful with your wallet and mobiles as there is always some pickpocket around you.
The next day, let’s follow me to get into the fog and above the cloud. Getting up early in the morning and having some fast food with hot milk, we continued our trip to Y Ty with the motorbike. Located in the North from Sapa, Y Ty is covered by four mountains, so when the weather is cool, this plateau turn in to the heaven with fog and cloud. Just after a night, this large plateau is under the floating clouds, and the mounts at that time look like the small islands in the white “Cloud Ocean.” I can’t take my eyes of this gorgeous natural beauty.
Stop to have lunch at a small stall near the road, we had a chance to talk with local people here and knew more about the culture here. We were invited a cup of craft beer by him. This beer is called Ha Nhi beer, which is made by the best sticky rice with a complicated recipe. Local people in Y Ty made this beer for their holidays and special guess. Other special food that I have never forgotten in Y Ty is Ha Sin Co, it looks like the sweet potato, but it is juicy, sweet and the color is the light yellow. We can eat Ha Sin Co after peeling.
The last destination of us is Muong Hum fair. This fair is celebrated only on Sunday. The citizen around here gathers at the market to trade the agricultural products, jewelry, foods, and clothes. You should take part in Sapa group tours on weekend to have some unique experience or buy your friends traditional clothes with the ethnic fair.
We bought some souvenirs and returned our homestay to get back to daily life by taking the latest train to Hanoi.
